The Verdict is in!!! It's a Boy!!!
That's right! I was so shocked. Since DH is deployed I had the ultrasound tech not tell me the sex. Instead, he printed out the genital shot and put it in an envelope that I had brought in. So I waited for DH to get on Skype last night and I opened it while he watched. When I saw boy I was shocked. I told him and he was so happy. He said finding out the sex made it so real for him now, and I have to agree. Now we just have to think of a name! I thought for sure it was going to be a girl. So now, instead of saying "the baby" I can say He!! It is such a great feeling. Here is the "money shot" for you to enjoy.

So here is what is going on with me and our baby boy this week:

Your Baby: Week 19
Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

How far along? : 19 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: I was down 7 pounds since pre-pregnancy, but I gained back all of it, so that means I was down 7 pounds, then I gained 7 pounds; I'm back to 0, no gain, no loss.
How big is baby?: Baby is the size of a Mango! It is about 6 inches long and according to the ultra sound tech the baby is 9 ounces in the 39 percentile.
Maternity clothes? Yep, all maternity! I can wear some sweat pants and squeezing out of some yoga pants and my t-shirts that are non maternity.
Stretch marks? None yet, I am using stretch mark cream, lotion, and baby oil to keep my skin hydrated (when I think about using it). Let's hope that works! I have some purple lines on one side of my hips, are those stretch marks?
Sleep: Miserable! When I can stay alseep I wake up sore. I can't sleep in on the weekends, and most nights I wake up to pee. My back hurts, my belly hurts, and I am tired all of the time.
Best moment this week: Finding out I'm having a Baby Boy!!!! It was so wonderful seeing him again.
Movement: Yes!! I can feel baby everyday now! It is amazing.
Food cravings: Chocolate Milk!!! All I want is chocolate milk. It is good that I teach and can get it at school. Pizza, too. Although that is nothing new.
Gender: Boy!! We are so excited!
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out?: In, but getting more shallow everyday. Yikes!
New Pregnancy Symptom: Back pain, gas, round ligament pain, swollen fingers are a recent development. My feet start to hurt by noon where I have to prop them during my break.
What I am looking forward to: Buying baby furniture on Friday!! Then shopping for my sweet baby boy's clothes. I am also looking forward for DH and I to pick out a name.
Weekly Wisdom: When you think something may be wrong tell your doctor or midwife!
Milestones: Finding out we're having a boy!
So I was at my routine appointment yesterday after my ultrasound and I was feeling hot, dizzy, shaky, and just not right. So I tell the receptionist and they tell me to sit down right away. The next thing I know I am being escorted back to a bed to lay down. They check my blood pressure and it is normal (20 mins. earlier it was high) my pulse rate was 89. My midwife comes in and asks me what was wrong, so I told him that I felt hot, dizzy, shaky, and headache. So he tells me to lay on my left side and tells the nurse to take blood for glucose, electrolytes, and CDC (is that right?) Well after being in there for about 20 mins. my blood pressure was getting lower, but my pulse was getting higher. So I was feeling better in time for my actual appointment so my MW does the exam and he even did an ultrasound.
He checked my labs and turns out my glucose was 70 (low), my white blood count was 13.3 (high). So, even after drinking juice, eating a chicken sandwich, and drinking a sweet tea, my glucose levels were low. So I just have to balance my diet more. It was quite the day! Overall it was great!
