Verdict is in!

The Verdict is in!!! It's a Boy!!!
That's right! I was so shocked. Since DH is deployed I had the ultrasound tech not tell me the sex. Instead, he printed out the genital shot and put it in an envelope that I had brought in. So I waited for DH to get on Skype last night and I opened it while he watched. When I saw boy I was shocked. I told him and he was so happy. He said finding out the sex made it so real for him now, and I have to agree. Now we just have to think of a name! I thought for sure it was going to be a girl. So now, instead of saying "the baby" I can say He!! It is such a great feeling. Here is the "money shot" for you to enjoy.

So here is what is going on with me and our baby boy this week:

Your Baby: Week 19

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

How far along? : 19 Weeks

Total weight gain/loss: I was down 7 pounds since pre-pregnancy, but I gained back all of it, so that means I was down 7 pounds, then I gained 7 pounds; I'm back to 0, no gain, no loss.

How big is baby?: Baby is the size of a Mango! It is about 6 inches long and according to the ultra sound tech the baby is 9 ounces in the 39 percentile.

Maternity clothes? Yep, all maternity! I can wear some sweat pants and squeezing out of some yoga pants and my t-shirts that are non maternity.

Stretch marks? None yet, I am using stretch mark cream, lotion, and baby oil to keep my skin hydrated (when I think about using it). Let's hope that works! I have some purple lines on one side of my hips, are those stretch marks?

Sleep: Miserable! When I can stay alseep I wake up sore. I can't sleep in on the weekends, and most nights I wake up to pee. My back hurts, my belly hurts, and I am tired all of the time.

Best moment this week: Finding out I'm having a Baby Boy!!!! It was so wonderful seeing him again.

Movement: Yes!! I can feel baby everyday now! It is amazing.

Food cravings: Chocolate Milk!!! All I want is chocolate milk. It is good that I teach and can get it at school. Pizza, too. Although that is nothing new.

Gender: Boy!! We are so excited!

Labor Signs: None.

Belly Button in or out?: In, but getting more shallow everyday. Yikes!

New Pregnancy Symptom: Back pain, gas, round ligament pain, swollen fingers are a recent development. My feet start to hurt by noon where I have to prop them during my break.

What I am looking forward to: Buying baby furniture on Friday!! Then shopping for my sweet baby boy's clothes. I am also looking forward for DH and I to pick out a name.

Weekly Wisdom: When you think something may be wrong tell your doctor or midwife!

Milestones: Finding out we're having a boy!

So I was at my routine appointment yesterday after my ultrasound and I was feeling hot, dizzy, shaky, and just not right. So I tell the receptionist and they tell me to sit down right away. The next thing I know I am being escorted back to a bed to lay down. They check my blood pressure and it is normal (20 mins. earlier it was high) my pulse rate was 89. My midwife comes in and asks me what was wrong, so I told him that I felt hot, dizzy, shaky, and headache. So he tells me to lay on my left side and tells the nurse to take blood for glucose, electrolytes, and CDC (is that right?) Well after being in there for about 20 mins. my blood pressure was getting lower, but my pulse was getting higher. So I was feeling better in time for my actual appointment so my MW does the exam and he even did an ultrasound.
He checked my labs and turns out my glucose was 70 (low), my white blood count was 13.3 (high). So, even after drinking juice, eating a chicken sandwich, and drinking a sweet tea, my glucose levels were low. So I just have to balance my diet more. It was quite the day! Overall it was great!

Nesting or Energy?

On Friday evening I had made plans to clean my house on Saturday. I planned to do the typical vacuuming, dusting, and folding clothes, but what came out of me on Saturday was dusting, fixing the vacuum cleaner, vacuuming the floors and furniture, deep cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, doing 2 loads of laundry, folding about 4 loads, cleaning out my dresser drawers and closet, organizing shoes, and at 8:30 pm baking muffins.

Now here is my question, was this just the normal energy boost that comes in the second trimester or early nesting? Before I got pregnant that was a normal house cleaning day that came about once every 2 weeks. When I stayed at home I would do about two of those things a day, but after I got pregnant I could do half of a task and get so tired I would have to rest for an hour. Because of that, my house got really clean about once a month, if that. Now that I'm in second trimester I can clean, but I just don't have the time since I am working full time with Student Teaching. But baking muffins at 8:30 pm is a new thing to me! I guess I just really wanted muffins. They were quite delicious regardless of what time they were made.

So whether or not I was nesting or just have my energy back, my house got cleaned and I am enjoying having my clothes back in my dresser and closet instead of having to walk to the laundry room every time I need clean underwear. Whatever made me get up and clean, my body is paying for it today from so much physical activity.

Don't forget to vote!! Are we having a handsome little boy or a sweet little girl? Only 2 more days to vote!!

Your Baby: Week 18

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

First Baby Purchase!!

So, I should not be left alone with my computer on a Saturday morning to look at target.com. Because I end up buying this:

This is the Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe with the Snugride car seat. DH and I decided we would use our tax refund to buy everything for baby, so he knew the purchase was coming. I am really excited about it! I looked at safety ratings for the Snugride and they amazing and fairly priced. Friends of ours have this small travel system and they love it. They are using it for baby #2 right now.

The reason for buying it now is because Target had them out of stock for a long time. They were finally back in stock when I looked today, so I went to gracobaby.com to compare the prices and this pattern we wanted in this travel system was out of stock on their website. I was afraid that we would not be able to get the pattern we want in this particular stroller. So I figured why not get it now instead of chancing it? Yay for new things!!

16 Weeks!!

Your Baby: Week 16

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.
